Managing Time & Space
An integrated platform for reserving tech-enabled spaces
Building a new platform for space booking & management
Summary
My inaugural work at McKinsey, I joined “space management” at the onset of an ambitious proposal to introduce a global system for managing office space across 180 distinct locations; optimizing use of spaces, allowing users new autonomy and mobility, promoting improved collaboration experiences by integrating with video, voice, and other tech, and incorporating backend features for utilization insights to inform allocation and real estate decisions.
When I transitioned to a new team in summer 2020, we had implemented the solution - an application for colleagues to book & separate interface for admins to manage, room sensors, booking tablets, and integrated in-room tech - in 25% of locations. I returned the following year to help inform the return-to-office strategy with the right social distance protocols for booking spaces.
