How I work
Think, make,
do, build.
I’m a creative leader with experience in emerging tech, SAAS, B2C, and enterprise across industries as a product & service designer, researcher, strategist, and people leader. I’ve built my career around bringing to life new products and service offerings and supporting people and culture.
I’m focused, pragmatic, and adept at organizing resources to get things done and play to my team’s strengths.

Strategic planning efforts support all my work, but I am a “soup-to-nuts” process enthusiast. I love the early discovery phase of creating or optimizing a product or service, but I don’t get stuck there. When I understand the “what” and the “why” I am driven by the “how” of delivery and implementation - whether it’s a critical bug fix, or a stakeholder workshop - and assessing effectiveness among customers & users.
-
With limited resources, I foster teams through innovation sprints and exercises, play up strengths that each person brings, learn & share new approaches, and maximize value. This happens at micro and macro scales. I embrace the potential of experimentation and the challenge of doing more with less.
-
I have a core set of skills that I bring with me wherever I go, but recognize the critical need for a growth mindset - the ability to adapt to new needs and changing environments by pursuing the right resources and opportunities to develop my craft as a designer, thinker, mentor, and peer. This applies not just to personal growth, but also organizational growth and maturity - I’m committed to establishing a foundation that can be built upon (think templates, reusable assets, design systems, enduring programs & initiatives).
-
A pro at triangulating the necessary ingredients - I form strong alliances with my functional partners so that we are a united front and able to make sure all considerations are represented and consistently advocated and accounted for, whether testing an idea, measuring effectiveness, or seeking stakeholder support.

The future
is...
Regardless my role, I intend to continue to break new ground and explore new industries, spaces, and technologies to deliver value to customers and business.
I aspire to create impact by fostering organizational design maturity, introducing new methodologies and upskilling others. I’ll support & lead, build & organize cross-functional teams, promote culture & put into place structures that serve people.

I learned from leaders who work alongside teams and enable the growth and success that they want to achieve. I get to know my team - their interests, passions, skills, and development areas - and help to position each person so they have opportunities to stretch. This has paid dividends not just in the quality teams can deliver, but in longevity of teams, retention of great people, and inspiring enthusiasm for coaching and leading others.
-
Collaboration is a core tenet of what successful leadership looks like to me - “leadership” implies a higher degree of responsibility rather than an order of hierarchy. Strong and fruitful relationships are essential success at scale - I graciously defer to partners (of all tenures!) who are experts in their respective crafts and fields, and rely on pairing complementary strengths.
-
The first step in building strong partnerships is letting people in - into processes, decision-making, problem-solving, sometimes just into the meeting room! I’m a firm believer that amazing talent can come from unconventional and unexpected places and in every context I will work hard to promote equity and inclusion and extend opportunities.
-
I am a straight shooter. I set an example for the transparency that I want to see in my environment through honesty and candidness, even in challenging situations. This facilitates an expediency in informed decision-making for myself and others, and helps to steer clear of bias.
Skills that serve me well
As a designer, a team member, a collaborator, and a people manager
Storytelling & visual communication
Sharing complex ideas simply with peers, leaders, and stakeholders is one of the most-used tools in my kit. Effective communication is often billed as a "soft skill" but many designers have a more varied approach that can give us an edge in stakeholder management, sharing ideas, and aligning quickly.
Curiosity & experimentation
Getting to the core of what people want, need, struggle with, value AND how to validate whether a solution will fulfill its promise. Iteration reduces risk and allows designers and companies to make informed decisions and strong bets.
Collaboration
Nobody works in a bubble! More of an art than a science, effective collaborations seeks the best ways for our skills and strengths to complement peers,' and how we augment or integrate within an organization.
Adaptability
Change is the only constant. Adaptability demands exploring the ways I am interested in growing and how the organization aspires to grow. Do those aspirations meet in the middle?
